Criteria for Entry
How the judging process works:
- Short listing of hotel by a panel of judges
- Visits to shortlisted hotels by the Best Practice Forum
- Final selection of the winning hotels by panel of judges
- Entries should be based on a recent experience and highlight a particular problem or opportunity faced by the hotel, its management, staff, suppliers or partners which was addressed within the last 18 months. The entry should also describe the solutions, how they were developed, and show how they have become embedded in the business. They must also evidence the ultimate benefits to all stakeholders in the business - improvements that clearly show the impact of results on employees, shareholders and the wider community.
- Entries should be jargon free, highlight results and demonstrate proven success. Where additional information is needed to support an entry, this can be provided in the form of photographs, printed materials or testimonials and should be sent to Hospitality and Leisure Manpower at the address provided on the entry form. Remember, clarity and brevity is more important than lots of words which add little. Make every word and statistic count.
- The initiative may include a new original idea introduced to the business, or it can show how established best practice has been adopted, and used for the first time in the business. Do not worry too much about the size of your business - or the type of initiative you are putting forward. Each entry will be judged on its merits - but, if you do not enter, you cannot win!!!
- For the purposes of these awards a company with less than four hotel properties will be considered an independent hotel. Four or more hotels will be considered a group.
All entries will be evaluated and then shortlisted against the Awards Criteria. Shortlisted entries will be assessed by independent assessors and then evaluated by the judging panel.
PLEASE NOTE: The HRS Hotel Excellence Awards are restricted to hotels within the United Kingdom only
